An event is one recorded action on your website: a page_view, a scroll, a purchase, a form submission. Each event has a name, a timestamp and parameters that describe it.
Events are the smallest unit you analyze. Sessions, users, funnels and conversion rates are all built from them.
Why It Matters
How events are stored decides how hard your analytics is to query. When parameters are nested inside a single column, as in GA4’s BigQuery export, every query has to unpack them first. When each parameter has its own column, events read like a normal table.
In d8a.tech
Events are written as flat rows, with custom parameters in dedicated columns, and are written to your warehouse the moment their session closes.
