Duplicating vs. Redirecting GA4 Requests

Two ways to send GA4 tracking data to a second destination without re-tagging your website.

All glossary terms

There are two ways to send your existing GA4 tracking to another destination without changing your tags:

  • Duplicating keeps GA4 running and sends a copy of every request to a second endpoint.
  • Redirecting keeps the GA4 script but sends its requests to a different endpoint instead of Google.

Why It Matters

Duplicating is the low-risk way to evaluate a new pipeline: nothing changes for GA4 users while you compare. Redirecting is how you stop sending the data to Google at all, without re-implementing your tracking.

In d8a.tech

Both work out of the box, and the open-source GA4 duplicator handles Google Tag Manager setups without duplicating every tag.
