Server-Side Tracking

Sending tracking data from a server you control instead of directly from the browser to a vendor.

All glossary terms

Server-side tracking sends hits through a server you control, such as a server-side Google Tag Manager container, instead of directly from the browser to each vendor. The server can filter, enrich or route the data before it goes anywhere else.

Why It Matters

It gives you a control point between your visitors and your vendors. It does not change consent obligations: personal data needs a legal basis whether it moves through a browser or a server.
